Remboursement pour les enfants
Prise en charge du CoaguChek®XS ou de l’INRatio® pour les enfants.
Les enfants, de moins de 18 ans, sous AVK au long court pourront à partir du 7 Juillet 2008, bénéficier d’une prise en charge totale des autotests de l’INR (CoaguChek® XS, INRatio®) et de leurs bandelettes (en boite de 12 pour l’ INRatio® et en boite de 24 pour le CoaguChek® XS).
Les arrêtés ont été publiés ce matin au Journal Officiel de la République Française ( N° 0146 du 24 Juin 2008).
Living with anticoagulants in France
Still no INR self-testing or INR self-management
France has a population of 62,000,000 inhabitants. There are 4,500 labs (private & hospital) serving 600,000 patients on anticoagulation therapy.
Monitors for self-testing are not well known in France. Some cardiologists know something about the existence of such monitors but they do not bring this information to the patients. Only a few patients have access to this information. If patients are interested in self-monitoring they have to go to Belgium or Luxembourg. These patients have to manage their monitoring without any help and support.
The sale of the only self-monitoring device marketed in France directly to patients has been just suspended. This is due to a text of the code of the Public Health, stipulating that such sale is the monopoly of the pharmacists.
However there is some hope. L’AFSSAPS (Agence Française de Sécurité Sanitaire des Produits de Santé) recognises their added value of the use of such instruments.
A study made at national level should facilitate marketing and refunding for adults.
Also the French Paediatric Cardiology Society and GEHT are helping to get reimbursement for children on long term oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT). But the dosage adjustment will be done by GP’s not by the family, so still no patient self-testing or self-management.
“AVK control” continuous support and information to patients under oral anticoagulants, while pursuing its goal: marketing and refunding of the devices of self-monitoring.
